RESOURCES

MUSIC PROFESSOR

All beginning band students use MusicProfessor to learn and grow as new instrumentalists. Students log in with their KIPP e-mail addresses. The password is his/her instrument name. This video library allows students to learn new concepts with a professional musician who serves as a private instructor. Students can return to the videos time and time again to review concepts and grow.

NOTEFLIGHT

Students in 6th-8th grades use Noteflight to write music notation assignments. Students typically compose assignments in this web-based music notation program and share their completed assignments with Ms. Schuster. Students who need to re-do or modify their assignments for a higher grade should send revised .pdf files to kippintrepidband@gmail.com. Thanks!

RECORDER ACE

Fifth grade students are learning to play recorder. There are two resources we are using for this! One resource is Recorder Ace, and the other is Community Band (see below). Recorder Ace allows students to learn new recorder songs by displaying note names and finger charts for each note. This is for practice only and should not be the only tool used to learn new songs. Once students achieve 80% on their songs in Recorder Ace, they should stop using it and "graduate" to Community Band. If Recorder Ace is not working, students may access the music by clicking here.

COMMUNITY BAND

Community Band is a valuable tool for musicians of all ages and levels. This free resource gives band and recorder students real-time feedback by listening to their pitch and rhythm as they play the songs in the online library. At Intrepid students in 5th and 6th grades use this resource often. Older musicians can benefit from it too!

RECORDER KARATE VIDEOS, LEVEL 1 - YOUTUBE

Fifth grade recorder students may access Ms. Schuster's YouTube channel to listen to new songs they are learning. Watching the videos gives students a concept of how their songs should sound as well as explain new concepts. Level 1 walks students from white belt up to black belt.

RECORDER KARATE VIDEOS, ADVANCED LEVEL 2 - YOUTUBE

Fifth grade recorder students may access Ms. Schuster's YouTube channel to listen to new songs they are learning. Watching the videos gives students a concept of how their songs should sound as well as explain new concepts. Level 2 walks students from black-white belt up to black-green belt.

MUSIC SHARE, ADVANCED LEVEL 2

Once Ms. Schuster sends you an e-mail containing the file for your song, save the file to your drive and open Music Share. Click the file folder at the top of the page and locate the file in your drive. If Music Share is not working, access the music by clicking here!

KHAN ACADEMY - MUSIC BASICS

"The basic principles of music are explained in plain language with helpful graphics and live video demonstrations. If you have ever wondered “How does music work?” than you’ll find answers here. Presented by the All-Star Orchestra music director Gerard Schwarz."
